Obesity is a huge problem in our society today. In fact a lot of research is being done to determine the causes for it. This is a very complex problem that does not have one singular cause.
Some factors that can influence obesity are genetics, lifestyle, the type of employment you have, your race, the medications that you take.
In todays culture it’s so easy to over eat. Restaurants are serving large portions or allowing you to super size a meal, it is easy for a person to eat a days worth of calories in only one meal.
Many activities have food at the center of the celebration. Parties, family events, work events, and seasonal holidays all include food being served. Many people eat in order to feel comfort when they are feeling stressed or depressed.
People also get very little exercise today thanks to all the modern conveniences we have. Some people do make time to include exercise into their daily lives but many others just say they are too busy. Too many people sit and watch TV. They use the remote control, use the elevators instead of the stairs, drive instead of walking or riding a bike.

There are 4 main types of Melanoma. One type is extremely fast spreading and rapidly penetrates down to the deeper skin layers and into many areas of a person’s body.
The other 3 types start as confined tumors, normally in the top layer of a person’s epidermis. Let’s look closer at all 4 of the types of melanoma.
SSM or superficial spreading melanoma makes up over two-thirds for all melanoma cases. SSM grows at a slow rate, normally over a span of a year or more.
It usually appears in the form of a flat, dark, mark on a person’s skin that is slightly raised and in colors that are variegated. It is irregular around the edges with a notched look. This form usually appears after the teenage years though. With in the younger generation this type of melanoma is most common.
SSM has two phases of growth during the radial phase the lesion expands within the upper skin layer or the epidermis. In the beginning part of the radial phase, the lesion stays basically thin, it usually is in this stage for a period of months maybe even years. This stage is the less severe one of the two phases, then when the melanoma starts the stage of vertical growth, a person’s prognosis gets more serious. During this stage the melanoma extends down to the deep skin layer of the dermis and the areas around it. At this stage this cancer is capable of spreading to other areas and metastasizing, and is malignant and dangerously so.

Cancer that strikes the cells in the blood is call leukemia. It actually develops in the marrow of the bones. This is where the blood cells are produced.
A healthy person’s bone marrow produces red blood cells for transporting oxygen throughout the body, white blood cells for fighting off infections, and platelets which are what clots the blood.
When a person has leukemia their bone marrow begins to produce white blood cells that are abnormal, this are leukemia cells. They do not function properly like the healthy white blood cells do, they grow more rapidly too, and don’t quit growing at the time they are suppose to.
This leads to the leukemia cells outnumbering the healthy blood cells. This causes serious conditions like bleeding, infections, and anemia. Leukemia cells usually advance to invade people’s organs or lymph nodes and can cause pain and/or swelling to happen.

A cancer that attacks the lymphatic system is called lymphoma. The purpose of the Lymphatic system is to carry white blood cells and lymph fluid through the body.
The lymphatic system assist with the filtering of bacteria, impurities, and viruses out of the body. This system is comprised of the spleen, lymph nodes, and unique tubes that travel through the body similar to blood vessels. The system is responsible for fighting off infections. There are different types of lymphoma though.
There are two basic types of lymphoma. There is Hodgkin’s lymphoma and then there is non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Let’s look at each kind to learn more about them.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is one of the types of lymphoma. Hodgkin’s cancer cells are different than other forms of lymphoma. Different from the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma tends to spread very predictable method from a lymph node area onto the next one. Hodgkin’s disease, as it is called sometimes, has a tendency to react to treatment differently than the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma does.
