Merck & Company, Inc. is considered to be one of the foremost global pharmaceutical companies in existence today. It has state of the art facilities and employs some of the world’s top scientists. Merck not only offers quality prescription drugs but it also is recognized for the quality non-profit services it offers including their their popular publication for unbiased health related information.
The Merck Patient Assistance Program provides free or almost free prescription drugs to patients who are unable to pay for their needed medications. The Program is continually expanding and provides medications free of charge to those who qualify.
Like any charitable program there are certain eligibility requirements that must be met by the patient. The eligibility for their Merck Patient Assistance Program is based upon the following requirements:
- You must be a legal resident of the United States
- In addition, you must not have any other medical insurance for your prescription drugs, whether it is public health care insurance or private in nature.
- Lastly, Merck has established certain income requirements that must be met. To be eligible the patients income must be less than four hundred percent of the federally established poverty guidelines for your particular household size.
To be more precise, if you are an individual, your income can not be more then $10,400 while a family of three should not exceed the established income of $17,600 per year. If your income is within the guidelines that Merck has established your next step is to fill out the program enrollment forms. These forms are readily available from the company’s website or by a quick telephone call to the company directly. After you have filled out the enrollment form you should take it to your family doctor for his approval and signature.
If at any time you have any questions about the eligible prescription medications or the forms themselves you should contact Merck & Company and they will adress your concerns. Make sure to fill out as much of the enrollment form as you can. Incomplete forms will delay the process and consequently delay obtaining your valuable medications. The more information that you can provide on the form the easier it becomes to get enrolled in the program.
Make a note of all your refill dates of your prescriptions for your particular program so that you do not run out of your medications.
